Public Clouds like Microsoft Azure are fundamentally changing the way technology is being consumed. The Cloud has introduced new paradigms of interaction being driven by innovations in AI such as Chatbots with the ability for natural language understanding.Where previously scale was a concern, offerings like Azure CosmosDB allows for globally distributed big data storage, while still offering read times of less than 10ms. The use of Machine Learning is driving the advancement of technology at unprecedented rates. The development of new interactions paradigms such as AR are being fuelled by the ability of vast amounts of diagnostic data to be processed and understood in extremely short periods of time.
Despite this ability to scale and to deliver technological complexity previously considered out of reach, these solutions manifest themselves in users hands which means that UX is being required to evolve at the same pace. UX needs to be able to provide user guidance faster, as the compute server side is vastly more responsive. UX needs to handle scenarios where users could be interacting with non-humans and further more UX needs to guide user’s through new and unfamiliar interaction paradigms.
Digital saturation means that users are expecting world class experiences. The Cloud is enabling everyone to deliver on those expectations. UX needs to ensure developers actually make it usable.
