Being a creative and analytical person at heart, I started my journey in the digital realm with back-end web development when WAP was still a thing. This led me to a digital generalist position within a small digital startup. As the first employee of this startup, it gave me the ability to grow my skill set to include Content development, SEO strategies, Analytics, Social management, Full stack development and web design. The company went from strength to strength and I hungered for more.
Having immersed myself in the role, this backdrop allowed me to hone my skills in marketing, front end development and strategic thinking at a motivational business, Achievement Awards Group. During this time I found a love for doing work that matters,collecting user data and a renewed interest in the connections it empowers within marketing. This gave rise in 2015 to my new appetite for User Experience. I followed my heart and joined a Cape Town EdTech company called GetSmarter and fulfilled the UX function in Marketing.
GetSmarter was acquired by 2U, Inc., a digital education company that partners with the world’s leading universities to build what we believe is the world’s best digital education. During this time I learnt a lot as the front man for UX of digital assets within the Marketing team and one of the greatest learning’s i picked up was using effective data to leverage good user interface decisions.
