“Recognizing the need is the primary condition for design.” – Charles Eames
We live in a world where we are inundated with invisible communication and subliminal cues. Design is used to influence and change behaviour, so subtle, you wouldn’t even notice it. Beautiful design is often unseen, quiet and doesn’t scream for people to pay attention to it, it doesn’t need to. It’s just there, silently creating frictionless interaction. Designing ways of being.
As designers, we have a responsibility to practice ethical design. We have a responsibility to improve, to delight and to do what’s right. We need to leave things better than they were.
Silo 1 is a story of independent-mindedness, integrity, accountability, modesty and social responsibility. Everything all designers should strive for.
