Surviving UX as a career
In the years spent in the digital field, one thing astounded me: how many people know that they should have a work-life balance, but have no idea where to begin to implement it.
First off, the knowledge that you have is paramountly important to the project/s that you work on. Secondly, you being ill or not able to perform your best is definitely not ideal to the longevity of both you and the project.
Learning how to balance work demand with personal goals (be it health, peace, starting a family or something else) is the key to unlocking continued awesomeness.
Your project needs you. Not 50% of you, or even 75% of you. All of you. But they can only have that much if you keep your levels topped up.

UX Terms holding the Township at ransom
The emergence of artificial intelligence (AI), virtual reality (VR), and augmented reality (AR) has had a significant impact on the field of user experience (UX) design, particularly in the areas of product design and development. These technologies have enabled designers to create more immersive and interactive experiences for users, and have opened up new possibilities for how we interact with technology.
However, the impact of these technologies has been limited in the context of townships, where many people lack access to basic technologies and resources. While AI, VR, and AR have the potential to improve the lives of people in townships by enabling better access to information, education, and healthcare, the infrastructure necessary to support these technologies is often lacking.
Growing up in the township and currently dealing with technology on a daly basis, I've realised the more things change, the more they stay the same. The topic will cover on how quickly we are moving forward with technology and yet things such as UX terminology is part of the blocker in communicating with the townships. The township learns with a voice they trust, whereas technology teaches with a leap of faith.

Confessions of a zip head – making the workplace easier for neurodivergents
I love designing and solving problems. In fact, I get so engaged that the world stops existing. I forget to eat, move or even go to the bathroom. I liken it to the "focused" or "zip heads" from Vernon Vinge's Deepness in the Sky.
I want to share my experiences and path to late neurodivergence diagnoses and what I've learnt and am learning as part of this experience. Neurodivergence – autism, dyslexia and ADHD – helps some of us be really successful, but it also causes considerable strain.
We'll talk through some definitions, get insights from people in tech with neurodivergent traits and share how we can tweak processes and environments to help everyone be more effective.
